Terms of Service

Last Updated · 27 Jun 2026Effective · On registration

Welcome to Lanten (operated by Lanten Trust Infrastructure Private Limited, hereinafter "Company", "Lanten", "We", "Us", or "Our"). These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and usage of the Lanten web application, mobile applications, API layers, and score-verification ecosystem (collectively, the "Platform"). By registering an account, completing our multi-step verification flows, generating an Authorization Token, or pulling a screening report, you ("User", "Tenant", or "Landlord") explicitly agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not accept these Terms, you must immediately halt all use of the Platform.

01

Nature of the Platform and Services

Lanten acts strictly as an independent data provider and credit-bureau-style scoring engine for the Indian residential rental market.

Not a Broker or Financial Institution
Lanten does not own, lease, manage, or operate rental properties. We are not a licensed real estate brokerage, nor do we act as an NBFC or banking institution.
Scoring Mechanics
The Lanten Score (ranging from 300 to 900) is generated purely via automated software algorithms processing consumer-provided identity inputs, historical tenant ledger data, property-ownership IDs, and bilateral transaction histories.
Evaluative Reference Only
A Lanten Score or Report does not constitute a legal recommendation or guarantee regarding a Tenant's behavioral creditworthiness or a Landlord's performance under a lease.
02

User Accounts and Eligibility

Age Limit
You must be at least 18 years of age and hold the legal capacity to enter into binding residential rental agreements under Indian law.
Dual-Context Allocation
The platform provides a unique dashboard supporting separate Tenant and Landlord structural modules within a single account ecosystem. You agree to accurately declare your role contexts and represent your true operational intent.
Credentials Security
You are singularly responsible for safeguarding your passwordless access tokens, magic-link routing, or OTP verification pins. Any activity logged under your account credentials will be legally treated as your direct intent.
03

Verification Inputs and User Covenants

When utilizing Lanten's multi-step interactive score simulation, you explicitly guarantee the following covenants under penalty of account termination and legal liability:

Accuracy of Data
All financial ledger records, UPI/bank narrative indicators, property-registry IDs, PAN numbers, and Aadhaar-backed metadata inputs you provide must be verified, true, and accurately depict real-world rental interactions.
Prohibition of Falsified Records
You shall not upload manipulated PDF statements, forged lease agreements, fabricated rent-payment receipts, or altered transaction logs to arbitrarily inflate your or another party's Lanten Score.
Compliance with Indian Penal Laws
Furnishing intentionally fraudulent particulars, fabricating default metrics, or maliciously impersonating a counterparty on this Platform constitutes a direct breach of these Terms, carrying statutory fines up to ₹10,000 under Section 15 of the DPDP Act, 2023, alongside criminal proceedings under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
04

The Secure Access Code and Profile Sharing Authorization

Tenant Privacy Control
A Tenant's comprehensive score report, data-tracking metrics, and payment records remain sealed and secure by default.
The Handshake Protocol
Profile sharing occurs exclusively via the generation of a temporary 6-digit access code or localized profile URL.
Landlord Obligation
A Landlord checking a Tenant's report explicitly covenants that they have been voluntarily issued the 6-digit access code directly by that specific individual. The Landlord is strictly prohibited from distributing, archiving, caching, or publishing any screening report obtained via an authorized handshake outside the exact scope of assessing that specific applicant for an active lease opportunity.
05

Alignment with the Model Tenancy Act (MTA), 2021

Lanten positions its digital infrastructure to strictly reinforce the baseline legal frameworks outlined by the Model Tenancy Act, 2021:

Security Deposits
Landlord calculation metrics for deposit tracking are anchored against the MTA guidelines (capping security deposits at a maximum of two months' rent for residential properties).
Privacy Controls
Landlord scoring criteria reflect compliance regarding notice-period rules for structural property-inspection entries as governed by the MTA.
No Interference
The Platform provides statistical reference data for transparency but does not substitute or interfere with the specialized jurisdiction of state-established Rent Authorities, Rent Courts, or Rent Tribunals.
06

Financial Products Marketplace · Lead Generation

Third-Party Offerings
The Platform features embedded promotional spaces for localized financial solutions (e.g., security-deposit credit facilities, rent-guarantee insurance frameworks) managed by partner NBFCs or IRDAI-regulated entities.
Conditional Visibility
Product options are generated dynamically based on active scoring bands (e.g., scores > 750).
No Commitment
Clicking "Apply Now" or "Check Eligibility" serves strictly as a voluntary submission of data and lead-generation routing. Lanten does not guarantee credit approval, pricing baselines, or policy issuance by our underlying integrated partner institutions.
07

Intellectual Property

Lanten owns all intellectual-property rights related to the Platform, including proprietary calculations, weighting paradigms, score-band analytics, user-interface components, and logos. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-transferable, and non-sublicensable license to view your score profile and utilize authorized lookups strictly for personal and legitimate operational use.

08

Limitation of Liability and Indemnity

As-Is Provision
Lanten provides its automated calculations, data pipelines, and score metrics on an "as-is" and "as-available" basis. We make no absolute warranties regarding the error-free nature of user-uploaded datasets.
Damages Cap
To the maximum extent permitted under applicable Indian law, the Company shall not be held liable for any indirect, incidental, punitive, or consequential damages — including but not limited to lost rental income, property damages, or lease terminations arising out of inaccuracies within a User-generated score profile.
Indemnity
You agree to fully indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Lanten, its directors, and technical engineers from any legal claims, liabilities, or expenditures arising from your submission of fraudulent financial indicators, breach of counterparty privacy protocols, or direct violations of these Terms.
09

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be interpreted, governed, and legally enforced in absolute accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Any legal actions, conflicts, or operational disputes arising directly from these Terms or use of the Platform shall be referred to exclusive final arbitration conducted under the provisions of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996. The seat of arbitration shall be Mumbai / Bengaluru, and the language of the proceedings shall be English.
